Why the Food System is Killing Us Slowly

Food Allergies and Chemical Sensitivities on the Rise

Did you ever wonder why there is an increase in food allergies and chemical sensitivities, synthetic substances and hormone factors that are proving to be detrimental to our health.  Not only are our children being effected as they are now known as “no peanut boy”, “no dairy girl” or “no sunlight Harry” in the school playground, and therefore cannot eat or live normally.  And not only are our new born babies at risk as they are forced to have 18 different immunization jabs within the first 2 years of their precious lives.  How did things go so wrong that a new born baby needs to have these synthetic chemicals injected into it’s pure body in order to survive in this world?  But worse of all is the increase in heart disease, cancer and women health issues that are plaguing our 30 – 60 year olds more than ever before.  1 in 4 women of child bearing age will develop some form of reproductive dysfunction whether it is endometriosis, ovarian cancer, fibroid or immune deficiency or another hormone related disorder.

There is a serious imbalance somewhere that is actually poisoning us, and it has gotten progressively worse over the past 20 years.  It is time to wake up and smell the roses, and to get clued in on the dysfunctional systems that have been put in place that are there to…well…kill you softly and slowly.  For more on what are some of the most dangerous substances in our food system, read Why Aspartame, Red Bull and the Flu Shot are Dangerous.  How can you get more proactive about your health, your diet and nutrition and overall well being.  Well let’s demystify some of the most common facts that people think are good for the health, when in fact it is proving detrimental.

Ditch the Fad Diets, Perceived Facts and Myths – Your Body Knows

Despite the fads, perceived facts and myths you hear on television, in commercials and in government-run and big corp endorsed medical journals – the answer lies within you, no new glamorous crash diet is going to change your body for the long-term, ues they be quick fix and instant gratification ways to mislead you into thinking you can lose weight and get that hot beach body.  You will be shocked to learn the truth about Cholesterol (and that it isn’t all bad for you), and about Animal Fats (that we actually need to make the metabolic breakdown rate work properly) and that a Low Fat diet isn’t all that good for you really.

It is therefore important that we eat a balanced diet of Carbohydrates, Protein and Fats.  And within those food groups to ensure that we incorporate more hearty vegetables, a variety of protein sources (meat, pulses and dairy), and yes even some good fats or omega fatty acids to help with metabolic breakdown in your body.  Don’t forget it is important to eat a variety of foods with diverse colour on your plate, and to incorporate a selection of herbs and spices – specifically the Aix en Provence provincial herbs from the Mediterranean in the South of France.  There are countless health benefits of having rosemary, oregano, thyme and many other wild herbs from that region.  Not to mention to add Olive Oil and wholegrains for good fatty acids and yes you can eat carbs in the form of freshly baked bread and even croissant as long as the ingredients are fres, wholesome and not refined.

Ditch those glamorous diets and start listening to your body and feeling for what you need or crave in your gut instinct / solar plexus and heart chakras what it is you desire in a given moment.  Your body will tell you what you lack, when you are thirsty or parched, you are dehydrated so top up on your daily intake of water.  When you lick your lips and taste your tongue, what does it tell you it needs?  Something sweet or savoury?  Maybe you are low on Zinc, Calcium or Magnesium.  Maybe you need some herbs and spices to address a blockage in your solar plexus or sacral chakra, listen to that craving for curry, turmeric, fries or that hearty green vegetable as your body seeks a nutrient dense selection of solids and liquids.

Yes I did say we need carbs and fats for ensuring the necessary energy is appropriate to break it down into fuel for your body, despite what you hear about those no carb and low fat fad diets.  Something has gone terribly wrong with our mass produced, factory farming food systems when the top priority of government run food associations, government-funded and big corp factory farms (Food Inc) and dietary guidelines is not about providing a high quality, nutritional balance and goodness to one’s health, but more about the profit and margin potential that a particular food produced in it’s assembly line can generate to a few of the Elite individuals on the top of the “food chain”, sorry I mean food system chain (from their pockets, to the factory farms to your plate and into your body).

What does this mean to us as the consumer, well we are getting “special offers” and perceived discounts in our supermarkets such as 2 for 1 Dempster bread or discounts on a variety of “processed” or manufactured low-quality food, which leads to the misconception that one is saving on their weekly grocery bill – but this is all just perception, a devious plan set in place that eiliminates the small food businesses, local farms and organic bakery, butchers or fresh produce markets from thriving.  But most of all it prevents us from getting all our vital nutrients and the healthy wholesome ingredients that are body needs.  Even worse is that the food system has been tainted chemically, as there are more synthetic hormones, genetically modified chemicals and lethal substances and compounds being injected into fresh produce, preservatives being added to literally make a 3-day freshness type of food last 3-weeks.  This implies that the nutrition value of the food is therefore lost when it’s life is synthetically extended just so that it can last the transportation across country or across continent, to the grocery store food shelves and into your kitchen.

Before the Tax Man and Agriculture Industry were Introduced

It is all backwards now, back in the day you would buy your bread from a local bakery, baked fresh and for you to take home to your kitchen table.  You could get your milk delivered fresh and direct straight from the local farm – it was so fresh that it would still have the curded cream on the top of the glass bottle.  These glass bottles would be returned to the milk float daily so there was your effective recycling program taking place all at the convenience to your door.  You could buy freshly cut meat from the high street butchers and pick your own fruits and vegetables from farms that were in the suburbian outskirts.  Yes it may not have been as convenient as going to your one-stop grocery store, but it worked, our bodies liked it and we thrived.  Not to mention, we did not need to pay a premium for having wholesome ingredients and natural produce in abundance.  And then came the big corp supermarkets, grocery store food chains and all purpose superstores (big box and bulk buys).  It removed the need for us to set up these direct and personal relationships with our local farmers, store owners and more.  And yes it introduced a high status, controlling and rich middle man called your Mass Production Food Supply who would then destroy the livelihood of the high street store owner and the local farmers, and replace them with mass farming corporations, agricultural infrastructure and new land ownership laws that were all part of their efforts to create a false sense of scarcity in our natural resources and food chain.

Back in 1918 before the introduction of tax laws and agricultural infrastructure the “richest” man in society would be the local farmer or plantation owners who ran their own local food produce operations.  These people were “bought out” and taken over by the giant Elite group who would then use these food sources as a way to control the many thousands of people that it would provide food and drink for.  Yes why not get to the root of our being, why not taint our food system, why not control us by sabotaging the basic necessities of life, and that is our Food, Water, Energy and Air.

Come Full Circle Back to Fresh and Organic

Fast forward to 2012 (almost a 100 years later) and generations of people have been effected with progressively degraded and declining health, detrimental diseases and conditions as well as some long-term defects effecting our brain functions, neurology, pineal and pitituary glands, and much more.  For those that have awakened to the truth, they are seeking alternatives to the mass marketed food system, they are the ones that are beginning to take back control of their food and drink consumption.  To seek natural health food supplies, farmer markets and organic food markets – and for some, to become self sufficient in their own crop gardens, vegetable patches, sprouting, herb and spice growing, etc.  So yes we have come full circle as we revert back to the more local feel, the culturally rich, the choice of more authentic and wholesome ingredients.  These local high street communities are starting to crop up in outer urban areas – because we realize we miss the personal touch of seeing that local baker or butcher out and about in town.

Also the latest trend is for us to start putting on our cook hats again as we improve our culinary art skills.  There is no doubt that cooking is a culinary art, an art of love and nurture as to cook for loved ones and friends is soul food, food made with love and tenderness.  From the minute the pasta sauce is made fresh from the hand-picked tomatoes and basil herbs in the garden, to the food creation process and through to the consumption – this is how we show each other how much we love and care for each other.
